Jamestown College launching radio station KJKR

Tonight marks the launch of KJKR radio 88.1 FM at Jamestown College.

The station will go live at 10 p.m. during a launch party for Jamestown College students hosted by the College’s Student Media Center. Its first broadcast will be live from the party featuring DJ Will and the bands Eden Parker and D Mills and the Thrills.

Students and advisers have been planning program lineup for the 4,000-watt commercial-free, college rock format station.

“Our schedule will be mostly music, and we hope to have some artists in for live studio sessions,” says Steve Listopad, Student Media Center Director.

The station joins the successful Student Media Center at Jamestown College, the home of the award-winning student newspaper, the Collegian, and JCTV. The student-managed Media Center has received accolades from North Dakota Professional Communicators, Associated Collegiate Press and Innovate ND.
