Class of 2011 receiving degrees Saturday

The motto selected by the Jamestown College Class of 2011 speaks to the ideals of higher education, lifelong learning, and the quest for excellence. The 173 graduating seniors will receive their degrees on Saturday, May 7 at the Jamestown Civic Center. Baccalaureate is at 10:30 a.m. Commencement is at 2:30 p.m.

Jamestown College alumna Dr. Peggy Foss, Ann Arbor, Mich., will deliver the Commencement address. Dr. Foss retired in 2004 after serving for 24 years as Director of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. She is Second Vice Chair of the Jamestown College Board of Trustees.

Speakers representing the Class of 2011 are Ryan Nygard, a biology graduate from Fargo, and Corrissa Schottmuller, a nursing graduate from Eveleth, Minn. Dr. Thomas Johnson, Associate Professor of History-Political Science, is the Baccalaureate speaker.

The Jamestown College Concert Choir will present a Commencement Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Voorhees Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.
