Jamestown College marking Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The Jamestown College Convocation Committee is hosting a Martin Luther King Jr. commemoration at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 17 in the Reiland Fine Arts Center’s DeNault Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

For this year’s event, the Convocation Committee invited members of the Jamestown College community to share their talents. About 40 students and faculty will participate.

Acts include the Jamestown College Jazz Band performing “Respect” and “Take the A Train”; a historical timeline of the Civil Rights Movement; a reading from “Walk Tall: Affirmations for People of Color”; a performance of “MLK”by the Jam! Audio vocal group; a recitation of Abraham Lincoln’s Inaugural Address; and vocal and instrumental solos and duets.
