Former Jimmie coach to be recognized

Jamestown High School’s gymnasium will be renamed Jerry Meyer Arena this weekend to honor the former Blue Jay boys’ and Jimmie men’s basketball coach. A ceremony will take place Saturday prior to the Blue Jay boys’ game vs. Williston.

Meyer’s Blue Jays won four state titles, and his Jimmie teams won back-to-back conference titles in 1994 and 1995. The Jimmies played in the National Tournament in 1994, winning their opening round game.

Meyer was inducted into the North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.

Congratulations, Coach Meyer!
